Why Tutoring?
Many traditional classrooms stick to rigid schedules, following set curriculum guides, moving forward regardless of how well concepts have been learned. Not every student learns at the same pace or in the same way. This often means important concepts get overlooked or covered superficially, creating a shaky foundation for further learning. In my work as an AP Exam grader, I have seen first hand the confused answers to straightforward questions that result.
My method focuses on each student's deep understanding of the material, relating the learning to personal experience, establishing a true grasp of the material. My goal is to ensure the student has a strong grip of the fundamental ideas of the subject and how (and where) to use them. I believe real learning comes from understanding, not just memorization. Understanding is lasting and deep, while memorization tends to shallow and fades quickly.
What makes my approach special is recognizing that every student has a unique path to understanding, shaped by their personal experiences and learning style. I thrive in one-on-one or small group sessions, where we uncover this personalized journey to comprehension.
